The Layoff: Post Bye Game

We have already seen trends with an extra layoff (Thur Night) or short week (Mon Night).  Let's get the data out for the game following the bye, where we should see similar results.  Right?







Just to be clear, the records are from the game played after the bye.  The left column is data from teams who won their game before the bye, and right column those who lost.

The data size is small (I hope to expand the research in the next few weeks) but playing a division game before the bye is a good sign, no matter if you win or lose that division game.  Also, if you win your (non-division) game before the bye then play a division game after the bye, you are also playing with better odds.  Remember that after winning a division game, teams only play to a 52% win percentage.  This 73% percentage is a big edge.
