Week 1 Trends

Nice to see some of the trend plays work nicely:

  • Pittsburgh continued the trend of the SB winner taking the Thursday Night game.
  • Division Night Home went 2-1
  • Previous .500+ went 5-2 at home.
Trends to look for-

Division Rivalry Blowout
Seattle over St Louis was the only one of the week.  We will keep that in mind for week 12, though NFC west was the weakest division in this analysis. (They had the most first game winners win the rematch).

Post Thursday Night
Good news for Pitt as Thursday night winners are 6-1 in non-division games the next week over the last two years.
You can have confidence in Tenn as Thur night losers who are favored are 5-1 over the last 3 years.

Post Monday Night
Both games were division games and the trend is "The record of teams who win a Monday Night Division game is 9-1 when playing a non-division game the following week, and 6-4 when playing another division game."
Good for SD against BAL, not as good (neutral) for NE vs the Jets.
