Week 3 Research

On to Week 3...

The only thing I could come up with for this week is to analyze teams that are 2-0 and 0-2 and look at their performance in Week 3.  The data looks back at the last 7 years.

Week 3 Records:

[Side note:  These numbers take out 8 games that were a 2-0 vs a 2-0 team and 8 games of 0-2 vs 0-2]

Decent numbers, but nothing great for Survivor.

Let's look at the Home/Road splits for these teams in Week 3:

Both Home/Road splits are very interesting.

  • The 2-0 teams do really well at home, but are average on the road
  • The 0-2 teams play really poorly on the road
  • The 0-2 teams play surprisingly well at home

And just because I love to WAY-over-analyze, here are the patterns of the teams in home/road games:  (H-H-R means 1st game Home, 2nd game Home, 3rd game Road...)

The data size is small, but there is one clear, (un)favorable trend.

and here are the records including 2-0 vs 2-0 and 0-2 vs 0-2

Here are this week's teams, with colors!
